Morning Whine

Trying really hard to stay positive. Not an easy thing for me to do in any occasion, but especially with this.
When I started creating necklaces from Felt in the beginning of the year, I got great responses and sold (to friends) almost everything that I made. Though at the time, I was using acrylic felt and store bought feature buttons. I decided I didn't want to do it this way anymore and so I started sourcing the best Merino Wool Felt and antique buttons.

Since this new turn in my designs, I've yet to sell a single piece. And so I'm wondering - Are my new designs just not that good?? see--> Flickr

I don't want to give up, aside from my partner Darcy, it is the only thing making me really happy... I guess I'm always the frustrated artist!!

Eco-fi Felt!

I have just come across a different form of felt. One that is made purely of 100% recycled plastic bottles, that's right, plastic bottles!! It's called Eco-fi Felt. I am crazy excited about this!! If I find that it works well for my pieces, I am converting!! I am so happy I came across this, although this morning I ordered another batch of Merino Wool Felt... Anyhoo, I still do LOVE my Wool Felt.
Now to wait for the delivery...

So what do you think?

I just received this from my graphic designer.. This will be the banner for my etsy shop and blogs. What do you think? It's not yet finished..

Decision Time

Since deciding I want to become a handcrafted jeweler, and about to enroll in a jewelry making course, I've been thinking about the name I have chosen for my business. "Lady Bow P" Do I want to change it? Do I need to change it? Will it fit my new work?

I've always loved feminine things and feeling like a lady. This still holds true today, though for some reason I don't think it will fit my new direction. I guess that's my problem.. How do I choose a name that is going to represent all my different sides?? Because that is basically what my work is, "representing my different sides". I would have liked to have just used my name, "Polia" but that just sounds silly and so using my full name is out of the question, "Polia Giannoulidis".

The name "Piece by Piece" has stuck in my head, because that is how I work, in pieces.. But the name is already registered, as is "Piece by Peace" which I also thought about. I then moved onto "Piece by Polia" or "Pieces by Polia".  I just don't know.

I guess I want my name to represent the fact that my work is/will be, unique, beautiful and ECO-FRIENDLY. Does Lady Bow P do all that??

SO many plans.. SO little money!!

I have seen the first ideas of my logo. It's looking amazing, I'm very excited!!
I know I naively thought I would have been reopened within a month of my closing shop, but I now know by Christmas, I will be in full swing!!

Also.. I am enrolling into "Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Jewelry)" at NMIT starting next Feb for 2yrs full time. In order to enroll, I must first sit an interview/folio presentation, so I am enrolling myself into a few jewelry making short courses at CAE. I am very excited about everything!! Lady Bow P will soon have an extended range of handcrafted silver/(and all sorts of materials) jewelry.

A Great Day!

Darcy surprised me today by taking me to the Craft & Quilt Fair. I had no idea it was on.. I'm so thankful he is the amazing person he is!! It was a great day, saw so many beautiful quilts, wool and silks. I bought some supplies for felting and got a few tips form the experts and left a very happy and inspired lady.

It's midnight now and I'm marveling at my beautiful creation. I tried my hand at cobweb felting. I really enjoyed it, though at first I was really afraid because I find it hard to do something I don't know how to do on my own... but I got through and it turned out great! Tomorrow I'm going to spend my time before work turning it into a purse.

I can't wait to show you all!

It is getting closer... I am almost ready to relaunch Lady Bow P! So many new designs.. I can't wait to reveal them!!

Update

My beautiful felt has arrived, orders are made. All I need now is my branding.. But the designing cannot begin until I pay the designer and I am dead broke!! :( I am way too impatient to wait two weeks. Going to ask my older brother for a little sibling loan. heh!

I know I said I'd be set up in a month last time, but this time I'm serious!! Within a month, Lady Bow P will be live!!

I'm off now to collect some buttons...

Ideas/Designs/Plans

So as it turns out, I'm not as prepared for my business as I thought. I knew I still needed a logo design and banner for etsy shop and professional photos taken of all my products, but what I didn't know was how much research I needed to do for my product titles and descriptions using "keywords" and "tagging". Man I was way behind.

Thanks to some lovely people at etsy.com I think I'm well on my way. I still need my logo designed and photos taken, (both of which are being worked on), things are slowly coming along. And once my logo is designed, my brothers own a Design & Printing company so anything I need printed will be done with LOVE. - Thanks George&Michael!! - ALSO, I plan to have Corrabelle turn my logo design into a gorgeous stamp for my packaging.

My amazingly talented partner Darcy is working on my design, he is sketching it as I type. It is fantastic, I can't wait to share it with the world!!

MY LIST:

  • Logo
  • Banner
  • Photos
  • Stamp
  • Stickers
  • Flyers
  • Business Cards
So excited about it all. (I am also working on some new ideas... very excited)

Autumn Love

Although technically it is now Winter, we are finally getting our Autumn season. The leaves are starting to change colour and fall, the streets are lined with gorgeous brown/red leaves. It is definitely my favourite time of the year. I took the most beautiful photo today..
<---This is what I get to see everyday as I walk from my car to work... it makes me so happy!
So since this photo was taken, I've been in love with warm, hue tones. I am going to work on a whole range of neckpieces in these colours and follow this theme.

LOOK OUT FOR IT

Lady Bow P... is ME!!

This is how they look on...

Things I need to do.

I have almost everything organized for Lady Bow P. All I really need to do now is have beautiful photos taken of my neckpieces so I can add them to my online store and get this show on the road...

  • I need a photographer, a setting and a model!!
  • I then need a website built. I'm just not happy with the one I'm using now and I don't want to pay $20 a month!!!
  • An invoice/receipt  book is needed as is a visit to my accountant and the bank!
I guess I need a lot done.. Slowly but surely, I'll get it done.

In the beginning there was a Lady and she loved Bows and her name began with a P.

I've always loved feminine, beautiful, classic glamour fashion. The 20s through to the 50s, Pin Up Girls and Hollywood Glamour, I love it all.

I wanted to create beautiful, original handmade neck-pieces reminiscent of classic beauty and glamour. So I created Lady Bow P and thus my love affair with  ribbon, velvet, lace and buttons began. Spotlight and Trimings Remnants have become like a second home.

As for the name - In the beginning there was a Lady, she loved Bows and her name began with a P.
